Dental Insurance – Reno, NV
How to Save When Visiting the Dentist
At Smile Design Implant Centers, we understand that many patients rely on their dental insurance coverage to help pay for necessary treatment. However, we believe it is important to treat individuals based on their oral healthcare needs. While the services we recommend may or may not be included as part of a plan’s covered benefits, we never want a patient to sacrifice high-quality treatment because of the stipulations set forth by dental insurance.
This is why we are not in-network with any insurance providers, but we will do our best to make sure each person receives the maximum reimbursement for administered treatment.
How Dental Insurance Works
Your decision to enroll in a private dental insurance plan means that you are entering into a contract with that company and agree to pay a monthly premium for access to your benefits. Unlike in-network dentists who engage in a similar agreement with various insurance companies – to lower fees for various services – our practice does not.
We are out-of-network, so patients like yourself must agree to pay the entire amount for treatment upfront. Although this might sound expensive, a key aspect to remember is that our team will take care of all the necessary paperwork that is required to file a claim. When we do, you can expect us to try and get you the highest reimbursement possible.
However, receiving any money back from your insurance company will only occur if you are undergoing preventive or restorative care, as cosmetic services are usually not covered by insurance.
What is the Difference Between Dental and Medical Insurance?
To better understand the difference between dental and medical insurance, you can break them down into two categories: reactive and proactive. Medical insurance is more commonly used when a problem has already occurred. These companies offer greater coverage for invasive, complex, and extensive forms of treatment, not wellness exams.
Dental insurance, however, is proactive, offering you the opportunity to save when seeing your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings (about 100%). This lowers the risk of more serious dental problems (i.e., cavities, tooth decay, gum disease, etc.), which means keeping more money in your pocket while enjoying a healthier smile year-round.
The Benefits of Choosing an Out-of-Network Dentist
While there are advantages to seeing a dentist who is in-network with your dental insurance, there are also many great benefits to choosing an out-of-network dentist, such as:
- Unrestricted Care: Instead of only administering treatment that is covered by your dental insurance plan, out-of-network dentists can provide a higher level of care by recommending services that your smile truly needs.
- Your Decision: You no longer have to see a dentist who is in-network with your plan. Instead, you can choose someone who is out of network and provides the type of services you desire.
- Maintained Relationships: It’s common for some dentists to end contractual agreements with certain insurance plans, so if your oral healthcare professional is no longer “in-network,” you can still choose to see them for exceptional care.
