Dentures are designed to replace missing teeth. They are made to look and feel as close as possible to natural teeth and can be designed to let you smile and laugh the way you always have. When you lose most or all of your teeth, you can opt for full arch dentures in Reno to restore your beautiful smile.

Having a few missing teeth will affect your looks and facial features over time. Because your teeth are incomplete, nearby ones can shift and cause more biting, chewing, and speaking problems. However, you can address this by visiting your dentist and getting the best dentures to suit your needs.

Dentures can be made in various ways. Dentures can be made by an external dental laboratory or by your dentist.

Everything You Need to Know About Dentures

  • What is a Denture?

A denture is a removable false set of teeth covering the entire edentulous area. A denture can be made from various materials: metal, acrylic, plastic, or a combination of two or more of these materials. The material used to make dentures directly affects the denture's durability, function, and appearance.

Your dentist or dental technician can advise you on the proper type of material to use. It is best to discuss your options with your dentist to ensure that you get the best denture possible.

  • Can I Get Dentures?

If you have missing teeth or damaged teeth, it is time to consider getting dentures. Your dentures should be custom-made to fit you perfectly, which will help you eat and speak comfortably.

  • How Do I Care for My Dentures?

Once you have your new dentures, you will need to care for them. Take good care of your dentures by using a soft brush and water to clean them. Also, rinse your denture thoroughly with water immediately after eating and drinking.

This process will help remove any food particles trapped in the denture. Keep them dry as much as possible by storing them in a container with a denture cleaner. Do not use soap or detergents on them.

  • Can I Sleep with My Dentures On?

Most dentures are used with a nightguard, which you can wear any time you want. It is important to know that your overnight denture may not have the same support as your day denture. Because your mouth is open when you sleep, your tongue tends to move around and may rub or contact your denture.

This may lead to discomfort or damage. It is best to take your denture out of the mouth at night. This is also the perfect time to clean them by letting them soak in the denture cleaner.

  • How is it Eating with Dentures?

It takes a little getting used to, but you will find that it is not that hard to chew with your dentures. Make sure that you chew with a slow, gentle movement. Don't chew too fast or too hard. If you chew too fast, you may hurt your jaw.

Try to chew with some food that has been cut into bite-sized pieces. You don't want to bite down on a whole piece of food. Try to use your other teeth to cut food into small pieces to make it easier to manage with your dentures.

Do not eat anything that requires a high bite. Doing so may cause your lower jaw to move up farther and push your dentures out of alignment. Try to keep your upper jaw relaxed, so your dentures don't bang together when you eat. You can also try to keep your jaw lightly open to allow your dentures to naturally fall into place.

  • Is the Process of Getting Dentures Painful?

There is no need to worry about the process of getting dentures being painful. When getting dentures, your dentist will use a numbing solution. The numbing solution will help you feel comfortable throughout the process. You may experience some soreness after getting the dentures. This soreness is normal and will last only a short time.

Take care of yourself, wear the dentures, and relax. The discomfort will disappear as soon as the dentures are in place. You may feel more soreness if you are chewing for the first time with your new dentures. This uncomfortable feeling is normal and will pass quickly.

If you experience pain, let your dentist know immediately. They can adjust your dentures to make sure they fit comfortably. You will be wearing them throughout most of the day, so you should definitely feel comfortable while doing so.

  • Can I Get Same-Day Dentures?

You can get some dentures on the same day you have your appointment with your dentist. It is important to note that these dentures are specifically designed for short-term use. They are not meant to be used as replacement dentures.

In fact, you may damage your gums if you wear these dentures continuously for long periods.

  • What are the Advantages of Full Arch Dentures?

A full arch treatment offers many benefits, such as improving your confidence. People can easily notice your missing teeth when you open your mouth, so it's easy to feel bad when yours are not complete.

Additionally, a full arch denture will provide permanent stability to your oral functions and retain your facial appearance, as this will preserve your jawbone volume.
